mercurial software package provides easy-to-use, scalable distributed version control system, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mercurial
mercurial is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mercurial package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mercurial *
You will get with mercurial package name, version, architecture and description in a table
